Some time spent yesterday working on pulling the XJ engine out (being very careful of the wiring harness since it will be re-used). But didn't have as much time as I would have liked so ill hopefully get the engine out this week.
Today some time was spent clearing the garage around the CJ6 (it's a little buried).
New tyres are 40x13.5r17 MTR.
Will start snapping some pics soon

Ok so the current build plan is:

Donated from 94XJ:
  • 4.0L engine, with all the accessories (including cruise control). AW4 4Speed Auto, NP242 Transfer case (although this might change in the future).
  • The entire wiring harness will be transplanted.
  • Currently assessing if the steering shaft, box & wheel can be used (the shaft looks really long).
  • Brake Master & pedal assembly.
  • Fuel pump module & MAYBE the LPG systems that was fitted to the donor.
  • Dash console (if it can be made to look acceptable in a CJ dash) as this would be an easy way to get the all the required gauges - and cheap ;)
  • Header & fan assembly - as well as all the Air Cond system - although I am considering relocating the compressor on the engine for better frame rail clearance.

Other aspects of the build:
  • Diffs would be the 404 Unimog diffs I've been hording for sometime. Still shopping for extra brake components and really need to be stripped down & referbished.
  • Tyres - listed above. Now wrapped in plastic in the shed - waiting.
  • Wheels - will probably use custom built mog pattern (6x205mm) centres welded onto a set of cheapish 17" steel rims. The main issue here is ensuring that it's engineerable. more research required before any
  • Seating Will probably run TJ seats (I have an extra set in the shed) but would really like to run those MasterCraft units on the shelf. Have TJ rear seat - but this won't fit between the wheelwells - so still looking at that problem.
  • Rollcage - got some good plans (I think). A MUST in the build plan but a fair way down the plan schedule.
  • Roof / Doors - Have Stock CJ6 Hardtop & doors - would probably like to be able to fit - but ease of removal is vital.

Undecided yet. But thinking a matt colour.
The ute is Matt green (not quite olive) so I don't want that colour.
Have LOTS of solor yellow in the garage - but its not matt.....far from it.....
So leaning towards Blue steel (greyish blue) which again we have plenty of, it's matt and just a practical colour.....just not the sexiest - but then again that's part of it's appeal to me
Black is OUT. White is also OUT. Boring........ ;)

Dead Jeeps aren't the problem - its the tree pallets of danged pavers in the way that will be the main problem ;)

Not much to report today.
But got the CJ5 hardtop that was sitting on the tub removed & dismantled.
Then removed the tailgate and cleaned out some of the interior.

Spent more time doing other things like dismantling the CJ6 Hardtop and cleaning up - but got the front panels removed on the '6.
Oh yeah got 3 of the 4 bolts holding the bumper into position....spent about 2 hours on the 4th bolts (grinder not at home).....even resolting to the sawzall the bolt still won......tomorrow will be a different outcome when I grab the grinder

You need to fit a stripped down rim and sit it in the 40 and guestimate how much trimming you need! lololol!!!

Nah that's much later in the build plan ;)
Sadly no updates for the past week as I have been too busy helping someone else with their project ;)
